Karl is an important part of what makes Mustang Magic possible. While much of his work happens behind the scenes, his care for the land and the place we call home helps create the welcoming, peaceful environment at the heart of Mustang Magic. Karl holds a master's degree in Cognitive Psychology and spent much of his career as a usability specialist. After retiring, he returned to school to pursue a second career in archaeology, which he continues to work full time. When he's not working at his regular job, you'll often find him tending the land, taking care of maintenance, and helping keep everything running smoothly at Mustang Magic. His steady presence and dedication make him an invaluable part of our team.
Brianna Harris is the administrative heart behind Mustang Magic. With almost a decade of experience in patient advocacy and healthcare administration, she helps keep the many behind-the-scenes details of a mental health practice organized and running smoothly, so the focus can remain where it belongs — on the people Mustang Magic serves. Brianna grew up in Central Oregon, and outside of work, she loves traveling with her amazing husband, painting and trying anything crafty, and tending to her ever-growing collection of houseplants with her trusty cat, Delia, nearby. Whether she is organizing a schedule, helping keep things running behind the scenes, or tending to her jungle of houseplants, Brianna believes that a little extra care can make all the difference. She is grateful to be part of Mustang Magic and to help create a welcoming and supportive experience from the moment someone reaches out.

Zenodie Arlas is a devoted horsewoman and equine coach whose work is grounded in a deep respect for horses and a desire to understand the world from their perspective. Born in California, Zenodie spent 22 years living in Paris, France, followed by four years surrounded by the natural beauty of Hawaiʻi’s Big Island, before finding her way to the wide-open landscapes of Central Oregon. Her journey reflects a lifelong appreciation for the natural world and the meaningful relationships we build with the animals who share it. Drawing on equine science, including the study of horse behavior, anatomy, and biology, Zenodie is committed to helping people develop a deeper understanding of horses through compassionate, ethical, and thoughtful horsemanship. She believes that when we take the time to listen, observe, and honor a horse’s individual needs, we create the conditions for trust, mutual understanding, and a more meaningful partnership. At the heart of Zenodie’s work is a simple but powerful vision: a place where horses feel understood, respected, and safe to be themselves, and where the people who spend time with them can experience the same sense of ease and acceptance. She hopes to inspire a more thoughtful approach to horsemanship—one that values the horse’s perspective and allows both horse and human to feel safe, connected, and understood. Kiva is a mustang born on 5,000 acres of open land at a wild horse sanctuary in Northern California. Orphaned at a young age, she showed remarkable strength and resourcefulness, even leading a group of adult horses to the sanctuary's homestead where resources were more abundant. These early experiences helped shape her strong, wise, and independent spirit. Naturally cautious around people, Kiva took time to learn to trust. Today, she is known for her gentle strength, quiet wisdom, and discerning nature. She has a beautiful balance of tenderness and assertiveness, offering a reminder that true strength includes vulnerability — and that trust grows when we feel safe enough to be ourselves.

Apache came to Mustang Magic from a wild horse sanctuary in California, along with Kiva. He has a big, curious personality and is always ready to see what is happening around him. Apache loves to play, learn, and stay busy, bringing a sense of energy and curiosity to the herd. He reminds us that growth can also be playful — and that sometimes curiosity is what opens the door to something new.

Neptune's story is one of resilience. Rescued from a kill pen in Texas, he arrived at Mustang Magic frightened and with much to recover from. Watching him slowly find his place within the herd and begin to trust has been a powerful reminder of what patience, safety, and time can make possible. Neptune is still on his own journey of healing, and he reminds us that healing doesn't happen all at once. Sometimes, it begins with learning that you are in a safe place, that you belong, and that life can be different than it once was.

Kaz may appear stoic at first, but beneath his quiet exterior is a deeply caring horse. He joined our herd with his longtime companion, Scooter, after spending many years in a familiar and loving home. Adjusting to a larger herd took time, and although new experiences can still make him anxious, Kaz has found his place — naturally stepping into the role of watchful caretaker. He keeps a watchful eye on the others and seems to know when they need him. With people, Kaz is tender, patient, and gentle. Once he learns to trust you, he often wants to be right by your side. Kaz brings a steady, protective presence to the herd and reminds us that strength and sensitivity can exist side by side. Even those who spend so much time looking out for others need a safe place to let their guard down.

Scooter is the quirky, silly guy of the herd — and he is perfectly happy to let you know what he wants! He absolutely loves tummy scratches and isn't shy about asking for attention. When he's ready for one, he'll walk right in front of you, lift a hind leg, and wait for you to get to work. If you don't quite get the technique right, he'll let you know with an expressive swing of his head. His personality is playful, forward, and full of affection, making him a total lovebug with plenty of character. Scooter brings a lightness to the herd that is easy to appreciate. He reminds us that there is room for silliness, play, and joy alongside the harder parts of life — and sometimes, happiness really is a full belly, a good tummy rub, and the freedom to be exactly who you are.
